About This Event

St Paul's Church, Sketty, was consecrated in 1850, and built by Henry Woodyer for the Vivian family, as a memorial to the young wife of a Vivian who died following childbirth. The Vivian family of Singleton Abbey were prominent local industrialists who dominated the copper industry in nineteenth century Swansea, also known as Copperopolis. Other leading industrialists of the time also contributed to the fabric of the church, which is a fine example of a mid-Victorian church. The church will be open for Open Doors, and visits can be self-guided or led by volunteers who will show people around. Teas and coffees will be served in the adjacent parish centre.
